Ask to See a Portfolio
Always ask to see the web designers work. Many people design differently and maybe that designer's style does not fit what you are looking for. It is best to know before you start working with them. This will save you a great deal of headache in the future.
Website Hosting and Registration
You should always know who hosts your website and where your site is registered. Your website hosting is who actually holds the files of your website. The registration is who has the domain name. For example: www.oldtownmediainc.com. It can become a large issue if you do not have access to this information. If you have forgotten who holds this info go to: www.dnsstuff.com. Type your domain name [oldtownmediainc.com] in the WHOIS Lookup box. (**do not put the www before it). The information will pop up about who has your site registered and who is hosting it. For more information about hosting please contact us or visit our services page.
Design Vision:
Please always make sure that the web designer that you talk with asks what your vision is. Many web designers and developers will push their design vision on you and not listen to what you have to say.
Ask for References:
Always ask the designer/developer for recommendations. The designer/developer should provide a couple of recent recommendations for you. They should also be within a similar scope of work that you are asking of this designer.
Please contact us if you have any questions that you would like to see as a 'tip'. |
